when learning Mandarin Chinese, one may want to extract the unique characters from a block of text. for example, one could take an article and create worksheets using the Mandarin Minutes worksheet tool in order to practice writing all the unique characters used within said text.

the tool below allows this - input the text into the top box, and the bottom box will contain the list of unique characters. the tool makes a best effort to filter out non-useful characters like punctuation and spacing. the tool should also work with other languages. for non-logographical languages it should be largely uninteresting; for any sufficiently large text the output will just consist of the whole alphabet in lower and upper case.
